The many faces of a farmer.....

One of the questions I get asked a lot is some variation on "what do you do at work?"

That's not the easiest thing in the world to answer. I have a leadership position at the farm, which means that there is a fair amount of typical office type work, as with any business. I am also the primary chemical applicator, which means I must maintain an applicator's license, keep up with laws and regulations for chemical application, and keep records of what is applied when. I do much of the field preparation work, so I spend a lot of time driving tractors. And, I also do whatever else may be needed at any given moment. I rarely take a day off in season, so it's a tiring job, but I wouldn't want to do anything else!
